ViaTherm^® - thermoplastic road marking

Thermoplastic road marking ViaTherm^® is made of certified, highly developed thermoplastic for a wide variety of normal, special and structural road marking tasks. The thermoplastic road marking packaging is added directly to the kettle as a binder and the organic pigments are not harmful to the environment.

High functionality and long-lasting durability are the hallmarks of thermoplastic road marking ViaTherm^®, supplied ready to use – without the admixture of any other chemicals. Our ViaTherm^® quickly hardens after application, thereby minimising any disturbance of traffic.

Thermoplastic road marking ViaTherm^® is suitable for type 1 and type 2 road markings.

Type 1: ViaTherm^® is developed and suitable for type 1 markings. The glass beads added to the surface and the beads in the molten plastic also provide enhanced night visibility.

Type 2: Through intensive, comprehensive research and development, LKF A/S has developed special types of thermoplastic road marking for special and structural markings. Thermoplastic road marking increase traffic safety and ensure high night visibility, even in rainy weather. The special thermoplastic road marking are designed so water runs off the markings and the large glass beads break up the film of water.

LKF´s mission is to develop and produce materials and services that can guide and inform road users. Our product development is focused on quality products adapted to individual customer demands, local regulations and varying climates.

ViaTherm® and PREMARK®
During the 70s, LKF grew steadily as thermoplastic became recognised as the dominant road marking material in Europe. In the laboratory, LKF has developed its own thermoplastic road marking product called ViaTherm® and cancelled its licence agreement. Road markings were still laid using machines and templates, but after several years of development work, LKF launched a product called PREMARK®, which is a prefabricated road marking ready for use. Thermoplastic road marking ViaTherm^® has become a very popular and lasting product.

TacPad® and TacGuide®

Over the last years, LKF has expanded the business areas and has started the production of tactile markings. TacPad® and TacGuide® signify a safer route for the blind and visually impaired when travelling alone. 

Export to most of the world
Through out the ’80s, LKF increased its exports considerably and in 1988 became part of the Geveko group. During the ’90s, LKF developed the export market to include most of the world, including production in the US and use of its own sales teams in key markets.

Our extensive laboratory-based research and development and our modern, flexible manufacturing facilities is a good combination for product development. Our efforts in the laboratory, in the production line and on the test sites ensure that we are continually developing new, highly advanced products.
We achieve our high quality by means of a uniform manufacturing process, frequent quality control, lot of laboratory work and countless road tests.  Road tests are a corner stone in developing new products, and securing and enhancing our high quality. The testing gives us valuable knowledge about: Adhesion, Durability, Friction and Day and Night visibility (under both wet and dry conditions)  

Next to the extensive work with developing material and products, LKF also works on developing new application techniques and new equipment, which can be used when applying road marking material.
